Life on the Frontier
When you’re travelling west, you have to make sure to pack all your essentials. You can’t just hop a plane to Denver, rent a car, and get everything you need at the local mall. No way! Everything west of the Mississippi is completely wild, untamed, and mostly unknown. So make sure you pack as much food as you can, put all your warmest blankets in the back of your horse-drawn carriage, and carry plenty of tools to fix up any wheels or axles that might become damaged while forging any rivers. Oh, and obviously, don’t forget your Adult Pioneer Woman Costume. It's a given on the supply list!
This look is a classic fashion of its time. And honestly, it does protect you from sun exposure, biting bugs, and thorny plants that might block your path. So while it might seem unwieldy for travel, it’s actually quite functional when you’re living beyond the forefront of established towns and villages.
This iconic style dress combination is something you’ll only be able to find at the general store in the early 19th century. The top is a solid blue and the bonnet and skirt are calico patterned in the style of the day. Faux decorative buttons adorn the chest, which is lined in white lace trim. The apron and bonnet secure with ties, so they’re adjustable for comfort. Don’t forget to pick up some sturdy footwear because your journey out west is going to require durable boots for the daily demands of the migration.
Some Experienced Advice
Just, uhh...make sure to time your travel well for when you reach the Rocky Mountains. We know some people that got snowed in there for a season and let’s just say things didn’t go too well for them. No worries, though, we’re sure you have everything under control! Happy trails!
