Flappers know how to have fun. But do you know how to act like a flapper? Flappers are fun, free, and independent gals that don't let life get them down. They are progressive, bold, and just the right amount of sassy. Does that sound like something you can pull off? Once you have the attitude down, you just need the lingo! The 1920's were full of awesome phrases that will give your costume that extra little something.

The first term is "berries!" It means that something is good or cool, kind of like the bee's knees. You could say "That sounds berries!" when you hear something you like. If you have a friend that might be a little bit mischevious, you can tell them "Don't take any wooden nickels!" It basically means "Don't do anything dumb!". Using little phrases like that will leave people wondering if you aren't really from the 1920's, visiting us with a time machine!

Now that you can talk the talk, let's look at what you'll be wearing while you walk the walk. The costume starts with a sleeveless tank pullover dress. It has a scoop neckline that's lined with silver sequins. The bodice of the dress is lined with a semi-sheer sequined overlay. The waist is also covered in sequins, but it also has two tiers of fringe. The headband is our favorite part of this costume; it comes covered in sequins and has a tuft of white feathers attached!

Now that you know the lingo and you have the outfit, all you'll need are some dancing shoes! Dancing shoes are an essential part of any flapper costume. Flappers loved to dance, and you will too when you see the way your dress shimmers on the dance floor. Have fun!
