For a size 8 or 8 1/2 foot, the Size 8 boot has a footbed length of 9 3/4 inches, and the Size 9 measures 10 inches, so if your foot measures closer to 9 3/4 inches you could try the 8, but when you're between sizes we generally suggest sizing up, which would point you toward the 9. On the calf, the Size 8 has a 16 inch opening and the Size 9 also measures 16 inches, so a 16 1/2 inch calf would be a snug fit in either and the zipper up the back may not close comfortably at that measurement.(AI Generated Answer)
