It did take a lot of bobby pins to get them solidly in place on my head, but then they were sturdy enough for a few hours of parading and dancing before they slipped sideways down my head and I had to reattach them with the bobby pins. It's possible I just didn't do a great job the first time, but I agree that the plastic holding them together is slippery and loses grip as your hair gets naturally oilier over time. Note that you have to turn the lights on BEFORE you put them on and fasten them down-there's no way to turn them on or off without removing them. Also, remember you're a lot taller with them on your head! (They only fit in a car if the passenger seat is reclined-definitely don't try to drive with them on.)Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
