Everyone knows the Disney princesses, whether you are a fan of classic princesses like Snow White and Aurora or you're part of the newer princess crowd like Tiana and Moana. Currently, Vanellope von Schweetz from Wreck-It Ralph is making waves on the internet already as she bonds with the princesses slumber party-style in previews for Ralph Breaks the Internet. (Is it too late to change the title to Vanellope Breaks the Internet?) The slumber party styles are indicative of a trend otherwise known as "Disneybounding", where people coordinate their outfits to resemble their favorite Disney characters without necessarily donning a costume. Be our guest and take a look at the possibilities!
Casual Grunge Cinderella
Bibbidi bobbidi blue! If you're looking to dress like rags-to-riches princess Cinderella, blue is the key element to your casual Disney princess apparel. We paired a blue Cinderella-themed shirt with ripped jeans in reference to when her step sister ripped her dress apart. (This time, we're going to own that ripped look!) The holographic hat and shiny silver purse pull the outfit together, and we added some blue canvas shoes. Feel free to style your hair to look like Cinderella's classic 'do.
Boho Chic Pocahontas
Princess Pocahontas has so many fun elements to her wardrobe that she makes a great character for Disneybounding! We decided to take a festival or boho approach to her outfit. Using a brown tunic shirt as the base, we added black leggings and some accessories that bring the woods along with you! We also picked two purse styles to choose from, so there's a little more flexibility there. (Bonus points to anyone that remembers the owls in the Grandmother Willow scene!)
Ugly Sweater Aurora
Like several other Disney princesses, princess Aurora has a fondness for woodland creatures and a singing voice that can tame wild animals. This ugly sweater Aurora look is based off her woodland outfit. Wear a black ugly sweater with woodland animals, and add some comfortable jeans. Add a white collared shirt underneath and a black fabric heandband to match. Lastly, we recommend a cute animal purse to tie it all together!
Nerd Chic Ariel
Princess Ariel has been a very popular meme subject (if you still remember the hipster Ariel meme) and with magical creatures like unicorns and mermaids rising in popularity, she makes a great Disney princess for casual cosplay. Pair a tunic-style, plain-color t-shirt with mermaid printed leggings, a matching scarf and a Little Mermaid shell purse for an instant Ariel cosplay. Add a red wig to your ensemble if you're interested in taking that extra step to be unmistakably Ariel!
Winter Wear Rapunzel
Although princess Rapunzel is one of the newer Disney princesses, her pink and purple attire and long blonde hair are unmistakable! Pair a light purple or purple-pink sweater dress with a darker purple peacoat, black leggings and a pink scarf, and you'll be ready to take on the unknown with Flynn. (Major props to you if you can find or make a chameleon purse to keep Paschal by your side!)
Comfy Casual Elsa
Last in our lineup is princess Elsa, arguably one of the easiest Disney princesses to Disneybound or turn into a casual cosplay. (Granted, she's actually queen Elsa now!) Mix together hues of white and blue, and possibly a little sparkle! We know that the cold doesn't bother her, but that doesn't mean that you can't be cozy with this white shawl over a blue shirt and some Frozen printed leggings. Add some cute fur-lined boots and you'll be ready for anything!
We hope you're feeling inspired after seeing some of our Disney princess casual looks, whether you're planning to Disneybound or throw together a last-minute Halloween costume DIY from your own closet. Adding a wig to your Disney princess apparel can also make the character more identifiable. Who is your favorite Disney princess? Have you done any Disney princess casual cosplays?
