Box Office Smashes: The Marvel Cinematic Universe [Infographic]

Marvel Cinematic Universe Box Office

We may not have known at the time, but the world of entertainment changed significantly on May 2, 2008 when Iron Man hit theaters. The movie, which featured one of Marvel’s mid-tier characters which they still owned the rights to, opened to rave reviews and made nearly $100 million on opening weekend en route to becoming the 2nd biggest movie of the year behind The Dark Knight. The most important thing, however, came in a scene shown after the credits (known as a stinger) in which Nick Fury approaches Tony Stark to talk about The Avengers. From that moment, the Marvel Cinematic Universe began to form.

Madden NFL: Evolution of a Video Game Franchise [Infographic]

Madden Infographic Blog Header

August 23rd marks the release of Madden NFL '17, the 29th game in the Madden football franchise. The video game franchise that's been around longer than most NFL players has undergone quite a bit of changes over the years. The original John Madden Football that was released in 1988 didn't even include actual NFL teams and featured graphics that made it difficult to tell which player was holding the ball. Over time, though, the graphics continued to improve and several features were added, such as team and player rankings, new controls, and modes like franchise and owner mode, among many other things. Madden NFL '17 promises to have a bunch of new features relating to offense, defense, and special teams.

Disney Dollars: Box Office Best (And Worst) [Infographic]

Live Action Disney Movies Infographic

Disney live action films have a long history of wonderful stories, memorable characters, and some big (and by big we mean humongous) box office wins. While the company started in 1923 in animation, quite successfully, they didn’t start making 100% live-action films until the 1950s. Just like the animated films, it didn’t take them long to create a classic (or two or three or four). Remember the frightening steam-punk fantasy of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, or the whimsical world of Mary Poppins, or the three-dimensional wizardry of Tron? Even those classics can’t compare to the sheer box office juggernauts of the past two decades. Disney owned the blockbuster with Pirates of the Caribbean, the remakes like Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella, and who could let the holidays go by without a viewing of The Santa Clause…. Of course, with so many films being made, there have been some box office clunkers, as well. Poor Tomorrowland

This infographic tracks all the live action films that made the top Disney dollar, and lost plenty of Disney dollars, as well.

The X-Over: The X-Files Influence on Breaking Bad [Infographic]

X-Files and Breaking Bad Crossover Infographic

The X-Files came creeping back onto our TV screens on Sunday, January 24th, and we don't think we could have waited a minute longer. Mulder and Scully, back again? New cases? New monsters? Skinner?! Be still our spooky hearts! There are few shows that are up to the same level of obession that X-Files existed on, one being the classic tale of science-teacher-turned-drug-lord, Breaking Bad. But, is there a reason why we love the two so equally? Maybe because the creator, Vince Gilligan, worked on The X-Files from 1995 to 2002. Or maybe because over a dozen actors have been featured in both shows. OR maybe because Gilligan snuck in a handful of X-Files-themed Easter eggs in Breaking Bad for all the superfans to catch. We got so excited finding all the connections between the two shows, that we decided to make an infographic that details them all!

Back to the Future Dance Moves Infographic

Whoa, this IS heavy. When Marty McFly took to the stage at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance in Back to the Future, we had no idea his performance influences would be so... diverse. With guitar moves borrowed from some of the most iconic rockers of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, his on-stage performance would be one for the history books. Well, if an “out of time” performance could somehow possibly do that. Play along with this interactive infographic and see if you can guess which guitarist inspired the corresponding move in Marty's performance!

You Built a Time Machine...Out of a DeLorean? The Evolution of Back to the Future's Iconic Car [Infographic]

Delorean Header

Few car models have had such a strange and exciting history as the DeLorean DMC-12 sports car. The Delorean Motor Company had a tumultuous and storied history, with the DMC-12 being the sole vehicle that made it through the assembly line. Today, this iconic car is known less for the machinations that brought about its life and death, and more for its appearance in the three Back to the Future films. Chosen by the filmmakers for its affordability and unique design, the DMC-12 is instantly recognizable as "the Back to the Future car” even by those who have not seen the films. Take a trip with us as we look back (and forward) at the evolution of the DeLorean time machine.
