THE 1920'S
Dressing up as a flapper is one of our favorites! It's snappy, elegant, and has a fun feel to it that never seems to pass! But don't just dress the part, act the part! Head out on the town with some 1920's slang to help you really play the part of a flapper. Here are a couple slang words that will add to your persona: Dewdropper; A dewdropper is someone that's lazy. If one of your friends isn't willing to come on down to the speakeasy with you, call them a dewdropper!
Another good slang term is Oliver Twist! An Oliver Twist is someone that's a good dancer. If you see someone out on the dance floor really cutting a rug, you would call them Oliver Twist! Otherwise, if someone's not willing to dance, they might be a wurp! A wurp is like a Debbie downer, someone that's kind of bummed and killing the mood!
FUN DETAILS
Now that you know the lingo, you just need a costume! This costume starts with a sleeveless pullover tank dress. The dress has a scoop neckline that is edged with silver sequins. The bodice of the dress is elongated and has a sequin overlay to leave you shimmering with every step. The skirt is lined with two tiers of fringe and matches perfect with the headband. The headband is lined in silver sequins and has a tuft of black feathers on it. Pair this with some dancing shoes and you will be all set.
GET OUT THERE
Don't be a dewdropper when you get your costume, get out there and have fun! Now is not the time to be a wurp! Take your costume and some friends out on the town and show the world that you are a regular Oliver Twist.
